Abstract
This paper describes a project that focuses on raising student participation by creating a classroom community that furnishes an atmosphere with trust and safety to encourage student engagement. Teachers from Oasis Charter Public School were given a collection of 29 lesson plans and 3 techniques that will offer instructors methods to create a community within their classrooms. Specific lesson plan activities were made to be utilized throughout the beginning, middle and end of the school year. Implementation of the project in the following school year will increase student participation through the creation of classroom culture, which will ultimately lead to higher student learning and academic success.
