Majority of clippings pertain to Farr's legislative efforts throughout 1965, particularly in the areas of environmental conservation and highway beautification. Farr's bill mandating that growers provide toilets and washing facilities for field workers, investigations into incidents involving the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club, and Farr's work with the Senate Interim Committee on Natural Resources are also represented. An article on Farr's son, future congressman Sam Farr, highlighting his work as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia, is included on page 8. Clippings date from January 1, 1965, to December 2, 1965.

Loose items at the back of the book include a photograph of Farr speaking at a fundraising event, and letters from Lady Bird Johnson. Materials date from November 13, 1965, to January 16, 1969.

Book spine label: "Lady Bird Visits Monterey and Dedicates Big Sur Highway, California's First Official Scenic Highway - 1966." Comprised entirely of newspaper clippings documenting and commenting on Lady Bird Johnson's visit to the Monterey Peninsula on September 21, 1966. Johnson was in Monterey as part of a four-day trip devoted to conservation and highway beautification. Fred Farr served as Johnson's official escort during her time in Monterey, beginning at Colton Hall for the First Lady's welcoming ceremony, and later at Bixby Creek Bridge for the dedication of Highway 1. Several articles note Farr's role in establishing California's scenic highway program and arranging Lady Bird Johnson's visit. Clippings date from September 8, 1966, to September 29, 1966.

Comprised mainly of newspaper clippings relating to highway beautification efforts across the country, particularly in regard to the removal and regulation of billboards. After losing his state senate re-election bid, Fred Farr served as Highway Beautification Coordinator under the Johnson Administration, overseeing initiatives aimed at improving scenic beauty on the nation's highways. Clippings date from May 16, 1967, to March 12, 1968.
