Crowded Room
Felicity Tomisaka
I decided to write a poem for Activity Response number four because last time I sketched smaller drawings onto one piece of paper as a different way to show my creative side instead of writing poetry. This time I wanted to write something that encompasses my feelings while under the pandemic.

Poems
Felicity Tomisaka
Road Trip: A Journey of Discovery
My source of inspiration was from the artwork painted by Jonathan Wos, a person who sits in a wheelchair, by writing a poem which I hope reflects this introspective painting.
Candle Light
The source of inspiration was from the artwork painted by Peter Longstaff, whose missing both arms, I hope this poem reflects familiarity when looking at candles and what they may symbolize.
Transit Station
This poem was inspired by the artwork of Keith Salmon, a person who is visually impaired. I hope this poem reflects the day to day life of the people who may take this form of transportation.
Concert Symphony
This poem was inspired by the artwork of Ping Lian Yeak, a person who is autistic savant. I hope that when you read this poem you are able to experience a symphony of your own imagination.

The Lovers
Felicity Tomisaka and Pøbel
I picked this photograph (Response Activity # 5) because street artists have been making their opinions known about the pandemic from the lord of the rings goblin hoarding toilet paper calling it precious to how people in love either start dating or express their love to one another in public. Without the doctors and nurses being the driving force in controlling the pandemic allows us to have moments like the one Pobel depicted.

2020-2021
JF Visser
This work is meant to encompass all of my experiences over the last year and during early 2020. Images were selected to convey both personal and external crises and achievements.

Grafit’
JF Visser
This image of a particularly striking piece of graffiti on the side of a train is meant to capture the urban decay and paradoxical beauty in the area it was photographed. This becomes a broader statement on falling social cohesion and poverty in the US.

The Importance of Remembrance
JF Visser
This earlier collage addresses the passing of time. It was created in response to a question about how and why we deem things important enough to record that was raised in class.

Zonderwat
JF Visser
This is a photograph of an empty POW remembrance memorial in my hometown. Attendance has been limited due to COVID-19, and the place has taken on an even more haunting and desolate atmosphere since the start of the pandemic. This photograph is about remembering our struggling ancestors and what they went through to bring us here.

Covid Tears
Yla Williams
This poem is about the USA struggling with Covid and its effects on social life and the economy.

Pressure
Yla Williams
This poem describes the pressure black people feel to conform to white society and its beauty standards.

COVID-19 Billboard in South County
Marci Yeater
For this assignment, we needed to take a photo of something having to do with the pandemic or a protest. I chose to take a photo of a huge billboard I saw in Gonzales, California. I thought it was important to show this because we’ve never seen anything like this before the pandemic started. It showed the importance of getting tested and it was even translated in Spanish. It’s important for the community to have these signs so they are always aware of what is happening.

Passion and Production Post Pandemic Podcast (In Depth Piece)
Marci Yeater
For my In Depth Piece, I decided to do a podcast episode on Anchor talking about the subject of week 4, which was thinking more deeply into ourselves and how we envision our connection to the world, post pandemic. For this week’s response, I made a graphic (through the website CANVA) showing me videotaping others. In the near future, I want to use my passion for videography to be able to tell others stories through visual media. I want to focus on their lives and share what they went through in the pandemic, how it shaped them, and what is next now that everything is opening up again. Everyone’s voices deserve to be heard and I want to make that possible.

Remembering 2020
Marci Yeater
For week 9’s response, we needed to create something that exists right now that we think needs to be preserved for the future. I made a photo collage on the website Canva of important things that had happened this last year. I know that the times would be unforgettable, but creating this was special for me because I would be able to look back at this collage and remember why I made it the way I did. I highlighted different things such as the world with a mask on it, into getting the vaccine, and a group of people partying. This goes to show that the world was sick, and even though it definitely still is, there is hope for the future that things can be better than they used to. We will always remember 2020.

Theatre in the Pandemic
Marci Yeater
This reading response was about theatre during the pandemic, specifically live shows and how it was been/will be affected moving forward. I did a writing response to the questions explaining my thoughts and how I think live streams would be utilized more even when everything does open up. I thought about how things used to be, especially with concerts and what I think should happen in the future for live shows.
