Description

In part one of this interview Clemente Morales takes us back through his childhood. He explains how his parents met and moved from the Philippines to California to work at the Paso Robles in. Then Clemente takes us through his life during World War II and how his mother Elena Morales was part of a gorilla involvement during the war. Then we go back to the Salinas Valley were Clemente’s father worked as a labor contractor first with Filipino labor then with Mexican laborers. Clemente Also reminisces on his time in Saudi Arabia, his job as mechanic, and his family. Part two is all about Clemente Morales memories of Chinatown. His memories of Chinatown from his parents business, to the churches, and the restaurants there. He also explains what he would do in Chinatown as a youth in the Chinatown area. Finally Clemente talks about what the Chinatown Revitalization Project means to him.
