Abstract
The focus of this capstone project is on student engagement in the classroom, a local school had an issue with students becoming restless during the end periods of the day. Teachers were interviewed about their ideas for engaging students through activities. It was found that incorporating movement with lessons could help bring a student’s attention back to the task at hand. The factors that lead to disengagement are not simply that students are not having enough physical activity throughout the day but there are other factors as well. Students can be dealing with individual problems like poor self-esteem, low intelligence, repeating a grade, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. A list of classroom activities that incorporated classroom movement and engagement was created.
