Abstract
This study will look for the benefits of the dual immersion program as a positive tool to increase English Language Learners (ELLs) academic achievement. I interviewed four ELL teachers. The overarching problem is that we are currently using an education model (Structured English Immersion) in some schools to teach ELLs the English language; even though we have an abundance of research that shows that this model produces long-term negative effects. With the information I have collected, my overall goals are to find a way to improve the dual immersion program, and make it more of a mainstream tool to teach ELL students.
