Abstract
The YWCA is a non-profit organization that provides a safe place for women in their community to engage with one another and speak on issues that are difficult to address, such as women's rights, domestic violence, and rape culture. Addressing these social issues have empowered women to take control of their own lives and not be afraid to speak on their own personal experiences to strengthen the lives of other women. Working closely with the YWCA of Watsonville has allowed me to gain insights of the importance of women's empowerment and educating young women about gender norms and women's health.
